On May 31, 2025, we celebrated the achievements of 786 LIUNA members who reached Journeyperson status at the Laborers Training School Apprenticeship Graduation. With inspiring words from leaders like Jon P. Preciado, Ernie Ordoñez, Assemblymember Phillip Chen, and David Espinoza, and heartfelt messages from Local union leaders, we honored a new generation of skilled union laborers. Thank you to the Laborers Training School for hosting this proud moment. The future of LIUNA is in good hands.

At this weekend’s Laborers Training School Apprenticeship Graduation, SCDCL Business Manager & Chairman of the Laborers Training & Retraining Trust Fund, Jon P. Preciado took a moment to speak with Assemblymember Phillip Chen (California Assembly District 59) about the impact of apprenticeship, the strength of union labor, and the importance of keeping career opportunities here in California. “Nobody does it like the Laborers!”. Together, we celebrated a new generation of skilled & trained union members ready to build the future with pride.

We partnered once again with LAUSD and the Office of Development and Civic Engagement with a Laborers Rising action to support families at the Belmont High School Vision Fair. From free vision screenings to essential supplies like diapers, toiletries, clothes, backpacks, books, and gift cards—this was about showing up for our communities.

SCDCL was proud to be a sponsor of the 2025 Public Works Summit, hosted by United Contractors, where leaders in construction, labor, and public works came together to shape the future of our communities.
