We partnered once again with LAUSD and the Office of Development and Civic Engagement with a Laborers Rising action to support families at the Belmont High School Vision Fair. From free vision screenings to essential supplies like diapers, toiletries, clothes, backpacks, books, and gift cards—this was about showing up for our communities.
SCDCL was proud to be a sponsor of the 2025 Public Works Summit, hosted by United Contractors, where leaders in construction, labor, and public works came together to shape the future of our communities.
LIUNA, the California State Council of Laborers, SCDCL, and Local 1309 continued their long-standing involvement as main sponsors of the Acura Grand Prix, with Local 1309 helping build and break down the track. Labor and political leaders came together to celebrate union strength, including a special moment where Jim Michaelian, President & CEO of the Grand Prix Association, was honored with a California State Legislature resolution. SCDCL Business Manager Jon P. Preciado represented LIUNA in the Winner’s Circle, while our organizers and the Laborers Training School connected with the public inside the exhibition hall—showcasing the career pathways LIUNA continues to build.
LIUNA – Southern California District Council of Laborers proudly joined CABE 2025 as a Platinum Sponsor to highlight our Laborers LEARN program—a hands-on, construction-based CTE pathway established at Palmdale Academy Charter School. Leaders from labor and education came together to share how LEARN is creating real opportunities for bilingual and multicultural students. Together, we learn. Together, we rise.
