On January 19, 2025, SCDCL and Locals 300, 345, 724, and 1414 came together to serve meals and show gratitude to wildfire crews battling the Eaton Fire. With support from partners like Scott Budnick, Emilio Rivera, and the Growlersburg Conservation Camp, this day honored both frontline heroes and the belief in second chances—proving that when our communities need us, Laborers Rise.
SCDCL, alongside Locals 300, 724, and 345, returned after the weekend to deliver clean water and expand Local 300’s monthly food giveaway to support over 1,200 people affected by the Eaton Fire. This powerful collaboration with union allies and community partners shows that union values go beyond the job site—we take care of our communities when it matters most.
In response to the Eaton Fire, SCDCL joined forces with Pasadena Councilmember Justin Jones and members from Locals 300, 724, 1309, and 1414 to distribute water and masks to impacted residents. Thanks to generous donors and dedicated volunteers, we came together to show that when our community needs us—Laborers Rise.
We’re proud to get the new Laborers Training School in Arizona underway. With SCDCL and the dedication of Local 1184 and The Laborers Training and Re-Training Trust of Southern California and Arizona (The Laborers Training School), this project is about building opportunities for Laborer Apprentices and Journeypersons in Arizona as we grow and support the construction industry in Arizona. Together, we’re growing and investing in the next generation of skilled Laborers, and strengthening the foundation for Arizona’s workforce and communities.
