A letter From Mike Quevedo, Jr.
On behalf of the
Southern California District Council of Laborers, I would like to welcome
you to our new Web site. This
site is designed to help you understand the important services we provide
for both employers and employees to get the important construction work of
Southern California done.
The
Southern California District Council of Laborers is committed to working
with employers to help improve the way they do business. Our goal is to help employers do business right the first
time, achieving greater quality, increased productivity and on-time,
on-budget performance.
My goal as head of the Southern California District Council of
Laborers is to help improve and organize marketshare for employers who utilize our
services. We help
construction employers do business right, and offer services ranging from
local contractor job sourcing to contract compliance services, legislative
counsel to dispute resolution.
We
also offer services that construction laborer employees critically need.
We have programs for occupational safety, health benefits, hands-on
construction training and trust funds for a slew of employee benefits,
including pension, vacation, training and retraining.
Our
specialty, however, lies in our ability to work collaboratively with
employers and contractors in negotiations to achieve win-win solutions.
Take our Worker’s Compensation Alternative Dispute Resolution
program as an example. This
program helps employers contain the costs of Workers’ Compensation
claims while ensuring that insured workers get the quality care they need
to return to work. In this
preferred mitigation scenario, a program ombudsman negotiates with both
parties to resolve claims and reduce the need for further litigation.
Put simply, this is a highly valuable program that can save
significant sums of money by reducing litigation expenses.
We
also monitor the construction industry and provide guidance to our members
on issues that affect them. We
also work closely with our labor unions to quickly provide the resources
for construction work throughout Southern California.
As
you can see, the services the Southern California District Council of
Laborers provides are many. I
encourage you to browse our Web site and learn about the many valuable
services we provide for the construction industry.
Regards,

Mike
